Robert Thompson, RLA

Rob Thompson has been a landscape architect with Terra since 2007.  During that time, he has been able to foster his interests in urban agriculture, ecological restoration, and sustainable design as a Project Director of the master plans for McCrory Gardens at South Dakota State University and the Arboretum at the University of Kentucky.  He has also led the design of the restored landscapes at the National Great Rivers Research and Education Center in Alton, Illinois, and he is the lead designer of the three flower shows at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Garden.

Rob graduated from the State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) with a Bachelors of Landscape Architecture degree.  While at ESF, he spent a semester in Barcelona studying food production networks and, while he was abroad, was fortunate enough to take a “great tour” of the old master gardens of England, Ireland, Germany, France and Spain.

When not busy drawing gardens at Terra, Rob can be found maintaining his own intensive urban garden at his home, making sawdust and occasionally fine furniture in his woodshop, or spending time with beloved wife and dog.
