Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens

MASTER PLAN AND FUNDRAISING SUPPORT

Jacksonville, FL

The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is embarking on a botanical journey like no other zoological institution in the country, aiming to develop a separate yet integrated botanical garden at the zoo. The plan designates three garden zones: the garden path, a major linear garden display featuring Florida flora along the main path; themed pocket gardens which serve as experiential forecourts to animal exhibits; and the ten-acre Trout River Gardens, themed display gardens with spectacular views of the tidal river.

Cindy Tyler, while a partner at MTR, led the master plan for the gardens. Terra went on to implement two signature pocket gardens: Asian Bamboo Garden and Savannah Blooms. Both create magical experiences for families through stunning plant combinations, interactive water features and commissioned art pieces. Terra also designed The Hanging Gardens of Trout River Plaza, the threshold to the future Trout River Gardens.
